coffee machine woes.

comment (0) Awright. So Surgery has started, and I'm on this awesome team where the consultant(s) have actually STOPPED AND TALKED TO ME AND MADE AN EFFORT TO LEARN MY NAME. I remain amazed that this rare breed of surgeon exists. I still think of surgeons as arrogant bastards, but apparently there are some nice ones around, and by some twist of fate I have ended up with them. That is good. I admire hard-asses, mostly, and generally only for sheer brillance. They make shit human beings though. Haven't been into a surgery yet, because I have yet to learn how to scrub in (i.e. get squeeky clean so I don't infect the blood and guts bit). Was meant to do that today, but one of the registrars was giving a tute and went overtime. By the time we got changed and into the theatre floor, the scrub nurses that were supposed to teach us to scrub in were very very annoyed and we got told off. After lots of apologising we managed to get resheduled to tomorrow. Mental note to self: do not piss off the scrub nurse. Also I got my security pass after much running around because [university hospital] is much more anal than [city hospital] and refuses to give you much in the way of access to restricted areas. So I had to find people to authorise things etc etc. I don't see why they can't just give us access to everything the way [city hospital] does - I mean obviously we need to get in and we're not going to do any harm. Mostly, anyway. But the most ironic thing is that after all that I've got access to ICU, ED, operating theatres, change rooms (+after hours), the only thing I cannot do is get coffee. Yup, they gave me access everything, but I cannot complete the simple act of getting a hot drink because my beepy card doesn't work on the coffee machine. Pfft. So in short nothing interesting's really happened. In other news, I actually finished one of the many projects I start but never get to the end. Crocheted mom a pretty scarf! It's for her birthday and hopefully she gets it before sunday. |
